Valley Brook Farm

Driving up to Valley Brook Farm, black fencing leads your eye to a bright red barn. The building stands out against its lush green surroundings of tall trees, plush grass, and newly planted grapevines. Still, it feels like it always belonged there. There is nothing “big city” about it, and that’s what makes it so special. I fell in love immediately.

Danielle Riggan, who owns the venue with her husband Matthew, gave me a full tour of the inside and grounds. She told me that her husband and her family built the venue themselves. I was very impressed. You would be too if you saw it. The venue is made of wood, giving it a rustic charm and that SMELL – oh, that smell – that you just want to bottle up and take home. Twinkle lights are hung on the ceilings, there are rocking chairs on the porch perfect for taking in views of the lake, and there were so many little touches that I knew I had to capture in the brand design. When Danielle finished giving me the tour I was completely inspired and knew immediately what I pictured for the brand: hand-drawn sketches and a mix of traditional and modern fonts.

“I reached out to Courtney with a vision for a brand for my family farm. She responded quickly and we set up a time to meet so that she could see our farm and hear more about my ideas. When she left I felt confident that she understood what I wanted and could make my ideas come to fruition. Honestly, upon receiving the files I had undershot her by a mile. She made my ideas 1000% better and created a clear brand that we will be able to use for years to come. She provided me with so much beautiful artwork and material that I'm set with everything I need to get an abundance of products created. I would highly recommend her! She is both professional and a wonderful designer!”

Client Q&A

What factors influenced you the most in your decision to hire Courtney?: I've worked with other designers and knew they wouldn't take the time to hear my thoughts and make them come to life, so I was on the hunt, so to say. Courtney and I share some mutual friends, so I decided to follow her on Instagram and see the kind of designs she was creating. In a month, I knew I wanted to give her a shot, but stalled with the holidays approaching. When she posted that she was open for more work, that nudged me to reach out.

How do you feel about the final result of your and Courtney’s work together?: Amazing! She took my vision and made it look professional and streamlined. I love everything she created and all of the bonus files she gave me.

Did the finished designs meet, exceed, or fall short of your expectations? Why do you feel this way?: Exceed by a mile. Not only are the designs wonderful, but she provided enough variety that we can use multiple images across a plethora of products. The brand will not get old and will be something we can be proud to use for years!

What part of Courtney’s design process did you enjoy the most? Why?: I felt that Courtney's biggest win was the intentionality she had to truly understand my vision. She asked great questions and even took pictures. She didn't come across as rushed, but listened well.

Do you feel like the end product and experience were worth more, just right, or less than the amount you paid? Please explain!: More! She was more generous that I have ever experienced with files and providing the pieces of her design, so you can use them to work with multiple media for logos over a long time.

If you recommended Courtney’s services to a friend, how would you describe the experience of working with her?: Absolutely! She was a joy to work with and a great communicator.

What would you say to someone who’s on the fence about working with Courtney?: Courtney's work is an investment in improving any business. She puts her heart into all of her designs and sets customers up to concisely communicate their identity to the world. The design files she provides will not only surpass your vision, they will overwhelm your expectations. I have never used a designer that was so generous. Her package will provide you with more than what you need!
